One hauntingly beautiful sunset turned to tragedy in a heartbeat, when Michy’s world was torn apart as her mother was struck down by a car while crossing the busy road, leaving everything she knew forever changed. Michy was violently thrown from her mother’s pouch, sliding across the asphalt and sustaining multiple bruises on her hips, legs, and feet, along with a deep cut on her tail.

Immediately brought into our care, Michy received urgent treatment for her injuries. To ensure no hidden damage and to prevent infection, she underwent X-rays and was administered antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication. At just 530 grams, with her eyes and ear canals still closed and no fur to protect her, Michy was placed in a humidicrib to replicate the warmth and safety of her mother’s pouch.

From the very beginning, Michy settled quickly, forming a strong bond with her new devoted human mum. Fed a specialised kangaroo joey milk formula every four hours, she was nurtured with unwavering care and attention. After two months, Michy’s fur began to grow, and she graduated to spending time in a pouch outside the humidicrib. Her curiosity blossomed, and she became increasingly active, eager to explore the world around her.

Now, five months since her arrival, Michy enjoys her days outside, nestled comfortably in a warm pouch or hopping freely, discovering the wonders of a new world. Her recovery journey is an inspiring testament to resilience, love, and dedicated care.
